It's the end of July, and the track season is in full swing. That's why it's time for the San Francisco Marathon, America's summertime marathon.

Leading the women's field will be former Santa Rosa High School star, Julia Stamps. Recently married and now living in New York City, Stamps will be running her first marathon in San Francisco. She has a marathon personal best of 2:46:17 set in Chicago in 2003. She competed in the 2004 USA Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon, finishing 81st of 122 starters. She also competed at the 2004 ING New York City Marathon finishing 28th in 2:52:58. That was her last marathon.

The San Francisco Marathon starts and finishes on the Embarcadero at Mission Street, near Justin Herman Plaza and the Ferry Building. The official starting time is 5:30 a.m. to keep the runners out of the heat of the day.
