Triathlon: Tucker out of Salford Race

Helen Tucker has been forced to withdraw from the Salford Triathlon BG World Cup due to a leg injury. The 22 year old current National Champion finished third in Salford last year.

Tucker, who is based in Swansea, commented: “It’s a shame that I’ve had to miss Salford this year as it’s one of the highlights of the year. The crowd support in Salford is incredible and really lifts the athletes. I will be there to lend my support to the British athletes racing this year.”

Tucker was one of two young triathletes to benefit this week from a new British Triathlon sponsorship deal with Corus. She is seen as a real prospect for 2012 and is already achieving success at senior international level.

Tucker’s next target will be the under 23 World Championships in Lausanne Sept 2nd-3rd.
