A record 1370 athletes from 48 countries have been entered entered for the European Athletics Championships that will begin in Gothenburg, Sweden, on August 7.
With teams from the newest member federations, Montenegro and Serbia, also set to compete, the total number of countries is also a record, one more than the number that participated in Munich four years ago. Only Armenia and Liechtenstein will not be represented.
With 118 athletes, Russia has entered the largest squad (56 men, 62 women), followed by Germany (90), Spain (87), France (85), Great Britain (85) and Italy (83). In all, 739 men and 631 women have been entered.
