Athletics: Win Free Tickets To The US 2008 Olympic Trials

Eugene, Ore. (July 31, 2006)--- Athletes finishing first in their events at the Road to Eugene '08 high performance track and field meet won't be the only announced winners at the University of Oregon's legendary Hayward Field on Tuesday evening, Aug. 8.

Through the generosity of the University of Oregon and the Eugene Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Track & Field Trials, 19 lucky ticket-buying fans will go home with a piece of Eugene's track and field future.

Fans that purchase tickets to the Road to Eugene '08 will have an opportunity to win tickets to Track Town USA's premier events, including the grand prize-a pair of all-session packages to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials, which contains tickets to all eight days of competition.

Meet organizers will also give away five pairs of season tickets for the 2007 University of Oregon track and field season; five pairs of tickets to the 2007 Pre Classic; and a pair of single-day tickets to each of the eight 2008 Olympic Trials sessions. In all, 19 ticket packages will be given away and individuals must be present to win.

"The Road To Eugene '08 is about connecting the athletes and fans and highlighting the exciting future of Track Town USA," said Vin Lananna, co-chairman of the Eugene Local Organizing Committee and University of Oregon associate athletic director/director of track and field. "Our bid was founded on the principle that this community's love of track and field doesn't begin in 2008-the fans are already cheering for and supporting America's athletes. These ticket prizes are a way to acknowledge and thank this community for its support."

In addition, all fans attending the meet next Tuesday will have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition Eugene '08 t-shirt, showcasing the Eugene '08 logo which will be displayed at the meet.

"The logo is truly special and it captures the spirit of track and field in our community," said Greg Erwin, co-chairman of the Eugene Local Organizing Committee. "These limited edition shirts will be the first opportunity for fans to purchase Eugene '08 merchandise. We want the Road to Eugene '08 to be memorable for first-time and seasoned fans alike."

The Road to Eugene '08 is a benefit for the Professional Athletics Association (PAA). The meet is sponsored by Nike and the Eugene Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 U. S. Olympic Track & Field Trials, in partnership with the PAA, USA Track & Field (USATF) and its Athletes Advisory and High Performance Committees, the University of Oregon, and the Oregon Track Club. The Olympic Trials will be held in Eugene at Hayward Field, June 27 through July 6, 2008.

Tickets for the Road to Eugene '08 are $15 each for reserved seating and $10 each for general admission. They are available at the Casanova Center ticket office, www.goducks.com, and 800-WEBFOOT.
