Athletics: Award Winning "Get Fit" Training Program Kicks Off August 5th

To Launch OC Marathon Set For January 7th, 2007

Local Runners Encouraged To Dare To Achieve The Impossible ~ Run a Marathon!

Newport Beach, CA – Learn from the best…and dare to take the first step in the journey of a lifetime. Anyone who has a desire to challenge themselves, exercise and make new friends is encouraged to sign up for the award winning “Get Fit” training program that will take you to the finish line of The Third Annual OC Marathon, Half Marathon or 5k run/walk on January 7th, 2007. The “Get Fit” official training program begins Saturday, August 5th featuring well known running coach and OC Marathon Race Director, Bill Sumner who will kick off an exciting list of activities. Whether you have only dreamed of completing a marathon or have done several, this program has something to offer everyone who wants to “Get Fit”.

*Half Marathon Training Begins Saturday, October 14th, 2006 at 7:00an

Let us help get you to the finish line of the oc marathon

The program requires participants to run or walk only 4 days a week (later in the program it goes to 5.) The long runs/walks will always take place on Saturday mornings according to ability group levels. Then, during the week “Get Fit” training is based on time (i.e. 30 minutes) not distance. Every Saturday, when the “Get Fit” group meets for the weekly workout, the following week’s schedule will be available for pick up. If you miss a Saturday work-out, you will be able to obtain the upcoming week’s schedule by calling the CALCOAST Track Club office. All ability levels and beginners are welcome to get in the best shape of your life!
