Guaranteed entries available for ING New York City Marathon
If running the ING New York Marathon has always been on your "to-do list" but you were not selected for this year's race in the lottery, the New York Road Runners are offering a limited opportunity to sign up for guaranteed entry though the NYRR Special Charity Initiative.
New York Road Runners has a limited number of entries for the 2006 ING New York City Marathon for U.S. domestic runners who were not accepted through the lottery. The marathon entries will be given to the first 525 people who apply and pledge to raise at least $2,500 for NYRR and four other not-for-profit organizations which NYRR supports as part of its community service mission.
All of the funds raised through these guaranteed entries, less any applicable credit card fees, will be distributed by NYRR to the following organizations:
The Armory Foundation
USA Track & Field, Inc. to support its USA Distance Project
Central Park Conservancy
The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, for the benefit of Van Cortlandt Park
Achilles Track Club
16% of the funds will be retained by NYRR to use in connection with activities in support of its tax-exempt mission.

USA Men's 10 km Championship Open for Bid
The Men's Long Distance Running Committee is currently accepting bids for the 2006 and 2007 USA Men's 10 km Championship.

Bids for the 2006 event will be accepted until 5 p.m., August 18, 2006.
Once a National Championship event is awarded, USATF's national staff will be available to assist with event sponsors to identify potential additional revenues where appropriate, negotiate contracts where necessary to protect your interests and ours, and provide additional services to the event from local Associations. Our Associations form a national network of athletes, coaches, officials, and supporters, and they can provide invaluable assistance to ensure the success of your event. We look forward to receiving a bid application from you and your community, and to assisting you in presenting the best possible championships for our top-level member athletes.
ZAP Fitness wraps-up successful track season
Elite athletes from ZAP Fitness, a USATF Elite Development Club based in Blowing Rock, N.C., concluded their 2006 racing season with several personal bests, club records and quality international racing.
ZAP Fitness Athletes who saw action at the AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis included 5,000 meter competitors Kyle King and Thomas Morgan, who finished ninth and 15th respectively.
To conclude their season both Morgan and King traveled to Belgium as part of a developmental tour funded by the LDR Division of USATF. While there, Morgan and King posted personal bests for 1,500 meters of 3:40.97 and 3:42.28, respectively, in Gent. Morgan also went on to run personal bests of 13:40.55 for 5,000 meters at the KBC Night of Athletics in Heusden, as well as the 2,000m (5:05.6), which also placed him among the top 20 all-time U.S. performances at that distance.

U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon
One of the most celebrated pre-Olympic events, the 2008 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, will be hosted by two of the world's most distinguished marathon organizers.
The Boston Athletic Association will host the women's event on Sunday, April 20, 2008, the day before the 112th running of the Boston Marathon.
The New York Road Runners will conduct the men's Olympic Trials during the New York City Marathon weekend on November 2, 2007.
