Athletics: Nike Launches 2006 Nike Run Hit Remix - The '90s

Tour Stops Include Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami

BEAVERTON, Ore. - (July 10, 2006) - Ready, set...now bust a move. Nike's popular Run Hit race is back as the Nike Run Hit Remix, featuring national acts who first became popular in the 90s such as Young MC and Digital Underground, and this year's headliner De La Soul.

Thousands of runners will hit the five-mile Nike Run Hit Remix course in Chicago (August 17), Los Angeles (September 24) and Miami (TBD) running and rapping to the tunes of "Bust a Move," "The Humpty Dance" and "Me, Myself and I," as well as to local bands who will also be performing on-course during the race.

This is the fourth year of the popular Nike Run Hit tour, which has developed a dynamic following among fitness runners who all share a passion for running and a love for music.

"The Nike Run Hit Remix exemplifies the true spirit of how music can inspire and encourage the athlete, at all levels of the sport," said Brian O'Connor, Sr. Brand Manager, Nike Running. "The Nike Run Hit tour has generated a huge following, selling out in every city we've been to. Runners truly understand how music can motivate them to go farther, and we're excited to bring our fantastic lineup to this year's tour."

As part of the main event in each city, finisher medals will be provided to all participants. The overall female and male winners, as well as the winner of the wheelchair race, will receive a Nike+ prize pack, including an iPod® Nano and Nike+ iPod® Sport Kit. The Nike+ iPod® Sport Kit, a wireless system that allows Nike+ footwear to talk with your iPod® Nano, connects you to the ultimate personal running and workout experience.

NikeGO, Nike's national community affairs program commitment to getting youth physically active, will also donate race entries to local high school-aged youth groups in Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami.

To encourage preparation for the race, Nike is hosting free training runs led by professional running coaches in each city leading up to the Nike Run Hit Remix. Training run participants can jumpstart their training regimen, socialize with other runners and test-drive Nike+ equipment along with the latest footwear and vision gear. Interested participants can register for the Nike Run Hit Remix race or find a nearby training run by visiting NikeRunHitRemix.com.
