Athletics: Team Looks To Break Hood To Coast Record

A team called the Gleukos Fast Fuelers will attempt to run the fastest-ever time for the 25th Hood to Coast Relay, a 197 mile, two-day run from Mount Hood to Seaside, Ore.

The existing record, set by a Nike-sponsored team called Mambu Baddu in 1995, is 15:44:55, a pace of about 4:48 per mile. Teams are composed of 12 members and the race is run throughout the night. Team members ride in vans which they drive to follow the race between exchange zones.

The Gleukos Fast Fuelers team is coached by Frank Gagliano and consists of James Nielsen, Andrew Hill, Tommy Greenless, Bryce Lighthall, Stephen Donahue, Tom McGlynn, Mike Wallace, Brendon Mahoney, Lucas Meyer, Sean Graham, Jonathon Riley and Patrick Boivin.

Gleukos is a sports drink developed by Mark Jensen and Gleukos, Inc. is based in Portland, Ore.

The Hood to Coast Relay scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26.
