Athletics: P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Issues the “Get Fit Challenge” to Organizations throughout North America

Businesses and government agencies are encouraged to team up and train for the fourth annual musical marathon and half marathon in the Valley of the Sun

PHOENIX, Ariz., (August 17, 2006) – The P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & ˝ Marathon has issued a “Get Fit Challenge” to businesses and government agencies throughout North America. Organizations, large and small, are encouraged to form a team of employees and start training for the fourth annual musical marathon and half marathon on Sunday, January 14, 2007.

“We designed the ‘Get Fit Challenge’ as a way for organizations to encourage employees to lead more active lifestyles, to build camaraderie and to participate in a unique and fun sporting event,” said Dawn Reichert the event’s manager. “We encourage both runners and walkers to join.”

The “Get Fit Challenge” consists of three divisions – small company (100 or fewer employees), large company (over 100 employees) and government agencies. Unique P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona awards will be presented to the winner of each division based on overall participation.

“Over 300 of our employees have participated in the marathon and half marathon over the past few years,” said Bert Vivian, president of P.F. Chang’s China Bistro. “The ‘Get Fit Challenge’ is a great way to have some fun and motivate your team to start the New Year.”

In addition to overall participation, the most colorful, energetic and creative teams in the “Get Fit Challenge” will be presented with the “Most Spirited” award. Teams that wish to be nominated for the “Most Spirited” award must email a high-resolution photo of the group in costume and a 500-word (or less) story about why they decided to get involved in the “Get Fit Challenge.” The winning team will be chosen after the event. Email high-resolution photos and story by January 22, 2007 to scampbell@eliteracing.com.

Teams entering the “Get Fit Challenge” should choose a team name and may select a team captain. To begin the registration process, email or call Stacey Campbell at scampbell@eliteracing.com or 602-957-8881 to receive a special registration code. To finalize registration in the “Get Fit Challenge,” organizations must register in one of the three divisions online at www.RnRaz.com by Fri., Dec. 15, 2006.

Each member of a “Get Fit Challenge” team will receive $10 off the individual entry price.

The P.F. Chang's Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & 1/2 Marathon is set for Jan. 14, 2007, over a three-day holiday weekend that allows travelers to get the most out of their race experience. More than 30,000 participants will be treated to more than 50 bands playing live music at every mile along the courses, 40 high school cheerleading squads providing extra motivation along the route, and a finish line festival at Arizona State University. An evening concert at Tempe Town Lake featuring a major headliner completes the day. Supported by the cities of Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, hotel rooms fill early for the race and participants are encouraged to register early.
