Athletics: Professional Field Set for 30th Crim 10 Mile

Ivanova to defend women's crown

The Crim Festival of Races will celebrate its 30th running on Saturday morning, August 26 in Flint, Michigan. Like past editions, another top professional athlete field is expected for the 10 mile, the event's centerpiece.

The field is led by defending women's champion Alevtina Ivanova of Russia who ran 53:34 last year. The Crim 10 offers over $35,000 in prize money with $5000 each for the race champions.

Crim has a rich history of great competition and fast times, and since its inception, three Open world road records have been set at the Crim: Joan Benoit (USA), 55:42 in 1979; Steve Kenyon (GBR), 46:43 in 1982 and Cathy O'Brien (USA), 51:47 in 1989. In addition, four U.S. 10 mile records have been broken in Flint including the current women's record by O'Brien. Kenyon and other past champions such as Herb Lindsay, Kim Merritt and Greg Meyer are also expected to help celebrate Crim's big 3-0.
