Athletics: Razorbacks Set to Host 2007 NCAA South Central Regional Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas cross country has been selected to host the 2007 NCAA South Central Regional Championships, Sat., Nov. 10, at the Razorback Cross Country Course at Agri Park, it was announced today by NCAA Assistant Director of Championships Mark A. Bockelman.

Home to the most successful program in NCAA history, Arkansas has hosted numerous events in Fayetteville, including the Chile Pepper Festival, the 1994 and 2004 SEC Championships and the 1994 NCAA Championships.

Head coach John McDonnell, in his 35th season with the Hogs, has led Arkansas to 32-consecutive conference cross country titles and 15-consecutive SEC cross country titles.

In its heralded history, Arkansas has produced three individual NCAA titles from two student-athletes, Joe Falcon (1987) and Godfrey Siamusiye (1995 and 1996). The Cardinal and White have also won 11 NCAA cross country crowns.

At the 2005 NCAA cross country championships, No. 2 Arkansas earned a silver finish, behind No. 1 Wisconsin, with Josphat Boit, Peter Kosgei and Kenny Cormier earning All-America honors.

Arkansas opens the 2006 cross country season with the Arkansas Tri-Meet, Fri. Sept, 8, at 7 p.m.
