The 29th Park Forest Scenic 10 Mile, a Labor Day tradition in the Chicago area, is slated for Monday, September 4, and the 2006 professional athlete field is again deep. This year, the race offers well over $20,000 in prize money with bonus money for both international and U.S. athletes. The race should prove to be fast at the front with the usual Park Forest depth in the field.
The women who are set to battle include: Asmae Leghzaoui of Morocco, Olga Romanova of Russia and Yun Suk Sun of South Korea. Other top runners include 1996 Olympian Jenny Spangler, Lucie Mays-Sulewski, Heather May, Amy Manson, Malika Megdoub, Claudia Colita, Patty Murray, Ann Cole, Tera Moody, Janeth Salazar Ohst, Lisa Menninger and Lindsey Mills.
The men's field includes: Gilbert Tuhabonye formerly of Burundi living in Austin, Texas, Samuel Ndereba, Joshua Kemei, Richard Kimeli, Philip Lagat, Emanuel Kibet, Laban Moiben, Zepherius Joseph, Ibrahim Limo and Abraham Kosgei all from Kenya. Also included are fellow Kenyans, Charles Nyakundi, Julius Kibet, Reuben Chebii and David Langat. Rounding out the field are Ridouane Harroufi and Karim El Mabchour of Morocco along with Americans Corey Stelljes, Ben Rosario, Tim Keller, Dan Held and John Nakel.
