Highlights for September include:
- With a course designed to showcase New York, the NYC Half-Marathon presented by Nike sends the field through Times Square and across 42nd street before a finish in Battery Park.
- The Professional Road Running Organization (PRRO) aligns five of the top events in North America for a circuit competition with a cumulative purse of $ 400,000.
- The first event in this PRRO series, the Utica Boilermaker from upstate New York, the largest 15k in the country.
- The PRRO circuit then moves to Puerto Rico where the elites of the world mix it up with thousands in the thrilling World’s Best 10k.
- Third up in the PRRO series, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, D.C., where you get a street level tour of the national monuments.
- Then the PRRO series is off to Spokane in the State of Washington, for the Lilac Bloomsday 12k, with it’s heartbreaking Doomsday Hill.
- And the PRRO final, the series championship, where over 50,000 join the elites for a quick 10k at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta.
- The CIGNA Falmouth Road Race, the “Great American Road Race”. For thousands, the summer is not complete without that jog down Surf Drive along Martha’s Vineyard Sound.
- “Where there’s a will there’s a way.” Hundreds of disabled athletes celebrate what they can do in the Achilles Track Club Hope & Possibilities five miler.
- And a Michelob Ultra Great Moment in Racing. While there is one overall men’s and women’s champion in the ING New York City Marathon, Achilles Athletes who take on the challenge are perhaps the biggest winners, and an inspiration to all of us.
- The five event SBLI Jersey Shore Golden Grand Prix Series makes a stop in Asbury Park, with a finish on the boardwalk and a cool down in the Atlantic.
