Athletics: No. 2 Arkansas Cross Country Heads North for Missouri Southern Stampede

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas cross country, tabbed No. 2 by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) earlier in the week, will head north to Joplin, Mo. on Saturday for the Missouri Southern Stampede. The race will go off at 9:45 a.m.

Joining the Razorbacks and the hosting Missouri Southern Lions will be Oral Roberts, Tulsa, Missouri-Kansas City, Texas A&M-Commerce, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Harding University, among others. Harding is ranked No. 7 in the Div. II USTFCCCA poll and Tulsa is listed at No. 12 in Midwest Regional poll.

After running a four-mile race at the Arkansas Invitational last week, the Razorbacks will be competing in an 8K race at Missouri Southern. Throughout the season the squad will be running at varying distances. The SEC Championships are contested on an 8K course and the NCAA Championship race will be a 10K.

At the Arkansas Invitational, the Hogs recorded a perfect team score of 15 points as five lettermen crossed the finish line in a time of 20:12. Kosgei finished in the top spot with Seth Summerside, Scott MacPherson, Shawn Forrest and All-American Kenny Cormier also crossing the finish line in 20:12.

Results from the Missouri Southern Stampede can be found at www.mssu.edu/athletics.
