Cycling: Kestrel Bicycles To Debut Newmodels, 2007 Lineup At Interbike Trade Show

LAS VEGAS,NEVADA, USA, September 25, 2006 - Kestrel Bicycles of Santa Cruz, CA, will unveil its 2007 product lineup at the upcoming Interbike tradeshow, including two all-new carbon fiber road bike models. The Interbike show is to take place September 27-29 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. Kestrel kicks off its 20th year of carbon-only frame design and manufacture with the introduction of two new road bike models - the "RT700" and the "Evoke SL".The RT700 is a groundbreaking new design, which wraps all the classic features of a Kestrel road bike into a stylish performance package. "20 years ago, Kestrel introduced the first all-carbon production frame," said KentWhiting, Kestrel's engineering manager. "With the RT700,we have fully tapped into that experience to design a lightweight, aerodynamic frame that satisfies our stringent requirements for stiffness, strength, durability, precision handling and shock-damping ride quality."

The Evoke SL is the superlight version of the popular Evoke road frame. Expanding on the tradition of Kestrel's pioneering use of high strength, high-modulus carbon fiber dating back to 1989, the Evoke SL comes in at 960-grams for a 56cm frame.Complete bikes with the new SRAM Force component group and Mavic's Ksyrium ES wheelset weigh just 15-lbs. "The Evoke SL gives up nothing in terms of performance compared to other sub-kilo frames," said Whiting, "Combining our proprietary 800K carbon composite and Modular Monocoque construction, it surpasses all our established testing requirements and carries our full Lifetime and No-FaultWarranties."

Kestrel's entire line of road, triathlon and time-trial bicycles and framesets has been changed for 2007, from materials and engineering, to colors and graphics, to component specifications."We are completely revamping our product lineup," said the product and marketing director . "You will see more use of carbon-fiber components than ever before," he noted, adding that new carbon cranksets will be spec'd alongside Kestrel's EMS Pro carbon road bars and model-specific carbon seatposts.
