Colorado Springs, Colorado (October 13, 2006) - The results of the USA Triathlon 2006 Elections are in. Based on October 13 audited figures, 7,775 members cast ballots, representing 12 percent of the total membership. Voter turnout far surpassed the totals from each of the past six years.
On the National Board, Melissa Merson, Brian Harrington and Mike Greer all claimed victory, displacing the incumbents Chuck Graziano, Tom Reilly and Brad Davison, respectively. For the Regional Board Seats, all candidates on the ballots received votes, earning each a seat. All regions had fewer candidates than actual Board seats, so a candidate needed just a single vote to win.
USAT Members also voted on three by-law amendment changes. All passed convincingly.
The results will become official on November 1st, after the protest period has passed. USAT shall provide a full analysis of the election, including all vote counts and voting trends in the next issue of USA Triathlon Life, due out in December.
