Athletics: AT&T Again Donates $25,000 to Support Marine Corps Marathon and Offers Free Global Calling to All Runners at Finish Line

AT&T Will Also Provide More Than 300 Calling Cards to Marine Corps Marathon Forward Participants in Iraq

VIENNA, Va., Oct. 16 - AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T - News) announced today a donation of $25,000 to become a major sponsor of the Marine Corps Marathon for the fourth consecutive year. AT&T is the title sponsor of the Finish Festival and will allow race participants and spectators to make free global calls to their friends and family members through the use of one of AT&T's specially equipped disaster recovery and emergency communications vans.

The Marine Corps Marathon is also holding its first-ever satellite running of the annual race called the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Forward. More than 200 runners and troops from all branches of the Armed Services who are based in the Al Anbar province of Iraq will participate on race day. AT&T is stepping up its support for our men and women in uniform by supplying 300 calling cards to all Armed Service participants in the MCM Forward, which will enable them to make free global calls to their friends and family members.

"The U.S. Marine Corps Marathon does a terrific job year after year organizing the marathon," said Steve D'Lugos, sales center vice president-AT&T Government Solutions, a unit of AT&T that serves the federal government. "During our involvement with the marathon, AT&T has provided free global calling and other support services to the men and women running the marathon in the U.S. and in Iraq. The U.S. Marine Corps Marathon is an event that AT&T is proud to be associated with."

AT&T Government Solutions will provide a booth at the Finish Festival where runners, spectators and Marines can make a free phone call to anyone anywhere via its AT&T Network Disaster Recovery Van, which offers voice over satellite communications. An AT&T Emergency Communications Vehicle, a specially equipped van that was used in the Gulf Coast region following Hurricane Katrina to provide satellite-based phone calling for emergency workers, will be set up near the finish line for use by runners and spectators.

"AT&T has played a key role for the past four years by supporting the marathon and offering runners the wonderful service of free phone calls from the finish line," said Rick Nealis, MCM Race Director. "We are very grateful to AT&T for its continued commitment to MCM runners and the Marines who produce the event."

AT&T's donation was made to the Marine Corps Marathon Ad Hoc Publicity Committee, Inc., the nonprofit group that supports the Marathon, to help cover program expenses associated with the MCM. In addition, AT&T has 16 employees from across the company, many from AT&T Government Solutions, who have dedicated themselves to a rigorous training schedule to prepare for the world's eighth-largest marathon.
