Ironman France – Nice Triathlon 2007: new date on 24 June but a fantastic race experience in a breathtaking environment will remain the same!
TRIANGLE France is sorry to announce that the that the date for the Ironman France – Nice Triathlon has had to be changed due to elections held in France on 10 and 17 June 2007. The endurance event will take place one week later, on 24 June 2007, and will attract 1600 athletes from more than 40 countries worldwide. The new Finishline on the Promenade des Anglais will be bigger than ever and guarantee a new race experience.
Two days of the legislative elections will take place on 10 and 17 June 2007 throughout France. Having to take into account the constraints resulting from these elections, and especially the non availability of the Police on these weekends, the Prefecture and the communes have the obligation to plan and articulate as of now, all their events around these two dates.
Consequently, for the safety of the athletes and the good conditions of the race the IRONMAN France - Nice Triathlon will now take place on Sunday 24 June 2007.
The TRIANGLE France organizers apologise for the inconvenience, however the situation was completely out of our control. We will be at the entire disposal of all the athletes to find adequate solutions for this change in date.
To date, 400 athletes have registered for the Ironman France 2007, which is up 50% more then at this time last year. 38% of the registered athletes come from the United Kingdom, which is the strongest nation at this point. With 12%, France is the second strongest together with the United States, also at 12%. Germany and Italy are both at 6% with Spain and Belgium following closely with 3%.
The Ironman France – Nice Triathlon entails 3.8km swim in two loops in the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean, a 180km bike ride through the picturesque villages of the hinterland, and a 42.2km marathon of 4 loops along one of the world’s most famous boardwalks: the Promenade des Anglais. The new Finishline will remain on the Promenade des Anglais, but it will offer more spectators the possibility to become part of the event in the larger stadium. And for athletes, the moment of fulfilling their dreams on this new Finishline will become even more magic.
