(St. Paul, MN – 1/16/07) Best of the US Management is pleased to announce that the 24th annual Father Joe’s San Diego International Triathlon, which will be contested on June 24, will host the 2007 “Best of the US’ California Qualifier. The fastest resident amateur male and female finisher will be invited to represent California at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October 6 at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, FL.
According to BOUS Information Director Jerry MacNeil, “The triathlon world has a capitol, and San Diego is it. And the San Diego International Triathlon is one of the oldest, most prestigious and most competitive races in the Sport. It has certainly earned its icon status. We look forward to working with Koz Enterprises (and decorated Race Director Rick Kozlowski) and have no doubt that California will send podium-worthy athletes to the Championship.”
The San Diego International Triathlon consists of two events. The international distance triathlon, consisting of a 1K swim, 30K bike and 10K run, and a sprint distance (.5K swim, 20K bike, 6K run) race. The international distance event will host the BOUS Qualifier. The San Diego International Triathlon has a field limit of 1300 participants and always fills early.
