Farmer-Patrick inducted in CSULA Hall of Fame
Three-time Olympian and USA Track & Field Board member Sandra Farmer-Patrick will be inducted tonight into the California State University, Los Angeles Athletics Hall of Fame. As a member of Cal State L.A.'s track and field team from 1983 to 1985, she had many top finishes, highlighted by an eighth-place finish for her native Jamaica in the 1984 Olympics, while she was still a student.
As a 400m hurdler for the U.S., she won a silver medal at the 1992 Olympics and 1993 World Championships, a gold medal at the 1989 and 1992 World Cup in Athletics, and a gold medal at the 1990 Goodwill Games. She was ranked #1 in the world by Track & Field News in 1989, 1991 and 1992 and ranked in the top five in the world for seven consecutive years.
At the 2004 Olympic Games, Farmer-Patrick was the athlete services lead coordinator for the USOC. She currently chairs the USA Track & Field's Athlete's Advisory Committee and serves as the United States Olympic Committee's athlete representative.
Farmer-Patrick married Olympic hurdler David Patrick in January 1988. At the 1989 USA Outdoor Championships, she and David became the first husband/wife duo to win national titles since Hal (hammer) and Olga (discus) Connolly did in 1964.
