(March 20, 2007 – Carmel, California) –The Big Sur International Marathon announced that all of the events for race weekend have completely sold out, with the exception of a few spaces left for the Big Sur 5K Run and Walk.
“The trends in the fitness world reflect the gradual shift in demographic change, attributed to the aging of the baby boomer,” remarked Wally Kastner, Race Director. While the marathon sells out each year, it is the three walking events that have taken the lead in a very early sell out, usually a few weeks after the opening of registration.
Over 10,000 participants participate in the various events on race day which is Sunday, April 29. However, families, friends and sponsors bring the total number of visitors to the Peninsula on race weekend to over 40,000.
Event and race weekend information can be obtained online at www.bsim.org.
