(Duluth, Minn.) Registration for one of the region’s largest 5K events officially opens Thursday. Entry forms for the 14th annual William A. Irvin 5K are being mailed today to those who requested them and to individuals who were registered for the race in 2005 or 2006.
Beginning Thursday, entry forms will be available by downloading a printable version at www.grandmasmarathon.com or in person at the following Twin Ports locations: Wells Fargo Bank Duluth, area Target Stores, Austin-Jarrow, and many other sporting goods stores and fitness centers throughout the area. Entry forms may also be obtained by calling (218) 727-0947.
The 3.1-mile run begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 15 near the permanently docked William A. Irvin ore boat on Duluth’s waterfront and is the first of three major running events during Grandma's Marathon weekend. The race is limited to the first 1,200 applicants and the entry fee is $25.00.
Registration for the William A. Irvin 5K is the last for the three races held during Grandma's Marathon weekend. Approximately 200 spots remain for the 31st annual Grandma’s Marathon on Saturday, June 16. Registration for the 17th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, also on June 16, is closed and applications are no longer being accepted.
