Triathlon: 2006 Ford Ironman World Championship Broadcast Nominated for Emmy Award

(Tarpon Springs, FL) March 30, 2007 – The 2006 Ford Ironman World Championship that aired on NBC on December 9, 2006 was among the nominees announced March 22, 2007 by the National Academy of Television and Arts and Sciences for the 28th Annual Sports Emmy Awards. There are nominees in 30 categories, and Ironman received its nomination for Outstanding Edited Sports Special.

Ironman’s Senior Vice President of Television Production, Peter Henning, comments,”This year’s nomination is a reflection of our production team’s overwhelming dedication and effort. Our gratitude goes out to all of our athletes, volunteers and staff who demonstrate that anything is possible.”

Other properties nominated in the above category are Countdown to De La Hoya-Mayorga (HBO), The Moment: 25 Years (CBS), Steeler Nation (NFL Network) and Tiger at 30 (CBS). To date, Ironman has received 39 Emmy nominations and captured 13 Emmy Awards.

Winners will be announced at the 28th Annual Sports Emmy Awards on April 30, 2007. The ceremony will take place at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. Leading sports broadcasters, personalities and television professionals will be presenters at the event.
