More than 1400 athletes signed up so far for the third edition of the Ironman France taking place on 24 June 2007 in Nice. Europe’s youngest Ironman is getting ready for a perfect race and a seamless entertainment program for spectators. The triple effort on the Côte d’Azur is not sold out yet. Registration will remain open one additional month leaving athletes the time to sign up until 24 May 2007.
The Ironman France in Nice is Europe’s youngest Ironman race. Not yet sold out, it offers everything a great triathlon competition has to offer: a welcoming host town, a breathtaking setting on the Côte d’Azur, maybe the most beautiful bike course in an Ironman, and a Finishline on the historical heart of European Triathlon: the Promenade des Anglais.
Next to a perfect race organisation for the athletes, the main focus of the organisers is on a great entertainment program for spectators. “Not every spectator is a hardcore triathlon fan. So we have to make them discover this wonderful sport step by step, and in combination with show elements to keep them happy all day long. And if the spectators are happy, they cheer on the athletes, and they will have a better performance and race experience.” explains Yves Cordier, General Event Manager for Ironman France. He should know – he has been a professional triathlete for years, and ran along the Promenade in many races.
So, can you get ready for an Ironman in two months? The team of organisers is ready to welcome the athletes in June. Nice, the host city, awaits the competitors with open arms. 45 directors and 1300 volunteers are in regular meetings to prepare a smooth roll down for the athletes, from registration to checkout. The athletes are training – most of them since many months – for the race they chose to be their season’s highlight. The only thing that some of them still have to do is sign up. The count down is running: 1 month to sign up, 2 months to the race.
