FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas sophomore J-Mee Samuels has been named the SEC
runner of the week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Samuels earns the weekly award for the
third time in his young Razorback career. He was also honored as the SEC
runner of the week January 16 and April 24.
Samuels won the 200 meters with a regional-qualifying time of 20.92 at the
Arkansas Twilight. The time is his second regional-qualifying mark in the
event. 20.92 is the eighth-best time run in the SEC this season.
Samuels holds the SEC's top time in 100 meters (10.13) and the
second-fastest time in the 200 meters (20.63). He is currently ranked No. 3
in the 100 meters and No. 6 in the 200 meters on the national performance
list.
Arkansas will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend to compete in the SEC
Outdoor Championships, May 10-13.
