OTTAWA – Eric Flemming from Oshawa, ON and Stefanie Reid from Thornhill, ON will be in Manchester, England this weekend competing in the 2007 edition of the Paralympic World Cup. Flemming will compete in the 100-metre and 200-meter, T35 classification (athlete with cerebral palsy) while Reid is entered in the long jump, F44 classification (athlete with a single below knee amputation).
Reid attended the World Cup last year, narrowly missing the podium with a personal best jump of 4.10-metres, which landed her in fourth place. She is the Canadian T44 class 100-meters record holder.
Flemming is a three time Canadian champion over 100-meters, he successfully defended his crown with a time of 14.89-seconds last July at the 2006 Canadian Paralympic Championships. Flemming, who also competes in the javelin, finished ninth in that event at the 2006 IPC (International Paralympic Committee) World Championships. Eric is the T35 100 and 200-meters Canadian record holder.

Highlights will be shown on May 22nd. 31 countries were represented in athletics at last year’s World Cup. The competition also features swimming, track cycling and wheelchair basketball.
