Athletics: SBR Triathlon Series Offers Four Sprint Triathlons at Harriman State Park in New York

NEW YORK, NY – May 15, 2007 – Tri-state area triathletes of all ages an abilities can challenge themselves in four new triathlons this summer in the new 2007 SBR Triathlon Series scheduled for June 3rd, June 9th, August 18th, and August 26th at Lake Sebago, Harriman State Park in New York.

The SBR Triathlon Series, officially sanctioned by USAT, features two courses with varying bike distances. Each race will include a half mile swim, 13 to 20 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run. Each course is professionally marked and supervised, with water and aid stations by Accelerade. The race will be scored using the ChampionChip® system. Swim waves are categorized by age and gender and have been limited to 100 swimmers per wave. The bike course is hilly and scenic, on traffic controlled roads. The 5k run is on shaded, traffic-free trails.

“We created the SBR Triathlon Series specifically to encourage new people to try the sport,” said Christophe Vandaele, President of SBR Multisports. “ Harriman State Park is convenient to the entire tri-state area, and the layout is perfect for novices but also grueling enough to challenge competitive triathletes. We look forward to seeing our regular friends as well as some new faces toe the starting line.”

Registration for the SBR Triathlon Series began on March 20, 2007. Register online at active.com. The cost to compete in each event is $100, but there are discounts available for early registration and for entering multiple events.
