NEW YORK (19-May) -- Dathan Ritzenhein broke a ten year-old record here today, winning the third annual Healthy Kidney 10-K in 28:08.
Mottram finished second in 28:25, with Demesse Tefera of Ethiopia getting to the line third in a personal best 28:31.
Ritzenhein won a special $20,000 bonus for breaking Koech's record which was put up by the race sponsor, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates. In addition, he won $7500 in prize money, but he chose to donate that amount to the National Kidney Foundation, the race's charitable beneficiary.
