Back on home soil Bella Comerford and Stephen Bayliss each took fourth position in the UK Ironman 70.3 last weekend at Wimbleball Lake in North Devon. This was the duo’s first time competing in the UK together this year and both put in a solid performance to gain their respective fourth positions.
“I am slightly disappointed and didn’t feel great on the bike leg, towards the end of it I was feeling a bit stronger and my run went well. Although I got the fastest overall run split I couldn’t bridge the gap to the top three,” said Stephen. He continued “I am straight back into my training now and have had a good swim and bike session this morning, I feel confident that my results will remain consistent and I am looking now to be taking more top positions.
Bella commented on her performance, “It really is fun to race in the UK and I don’t get the chance to do so very often. There was amazing support from spectators and although I am disappointed to not have done batter than 4th the other girls did a great job. My training is improving all the time and I feel confident that podium positions are within my reach.
The pair is now in preparation for the European Long Course Championships this coming weekend and looking to improve on the strong and consistent performances they have already made this season.
