More than 1,000 athletes already have signed up to race the 2008 edition of the Quelle Challenge Roth in the triathlon-mad German hamlet of Roth and athletes interested in racing are advised to sign up quickly through the website at www.challenge-roth.co. The race will accept 2,500 individual entries and another 500 relay teams with no waiting list. Hotel rooms in the region also are filling quickly.
The Quelle Challenge Roth, the former Ironman Europe, celebrated 20 years of triathlon in Roth on June 24 with a thrilling competition that saw Aussie Chris McCormack win his fourth title in 7:54 and Yvonne van Vlerken of the Netherlands win her debut in 8:51. The race drew an estimated 140,000 spectators and was seen by millions of viewers on German television.
