Athletics: Canada Announces 2007 Summer Universiade Team

OTTAWA – Athletics Canada announced today the team which will compete at the 24th Summer Universiade (FISU) competition in Bangkok, Thailand. The FISU Games will begin August 8th and conclude August 18th with track and field running from the 9th to 14th.

At the 2005 FISU Games in Izmir, Turkey the Canadian track and field team earned two silver medals. Reid Coolsaet of Hamilton, Ontario placed second in the 5000m while Jared MacLeod of Winnipeg also finished second in the 110 metre hurdles. The FISU Games take place every two years.
