FOLSOM, CALIF. - August 5, 2007 - Pacific Association USA Track & Field
athletes excelled at the USA Master Outdoor Track $ Field Championships,
held August 2-5 at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine.
Frank Condon of Chico, Calif. set a U.S. men's age group record for 65-69
year-old men for 800 meters. Condon's new standard is 2 minutes, 17.20
seconds. Condon also won the M65 1,500 meter race in 4:58.06.
Louise Walters of Foresthill, Calif. captured the W65 5,000 meter race
walk in 31:57.91 and the W65 10,000m race walk in 1:03:42.01. Greenbrae,
Calif. athlete Jack Brae won both the M70 5,000m race walk in 29:51.25
and the M70 10,000m race walk in 1:02:56.54. John Levinsohn of Greenbrae,
Calif. topped the M85 5,000m race walk in 45:54.75.
Edythe Leek of Sacramento, Calif. won the W75 outdoor pentathlon, and the
W75 200m dash in 41.97.
Tom Bernhard of Fremont, Calif. won the M55 5,000-meter race in 17:33.56.
Liz Palmer of Folsom, Calif. was a winner in the W45 short hurdles with a
mark of 13.29.
Lorraine Tucker of San Jose, Calif. won the W60 discus throw in 28.28
meters/92-09.25 feet. Tucker also placed second in the W60 shot put with
a put of 9.03m. Thomas Fahey of Chico, Calif. turned in the winning M55
discus throw with a toss of 50.04m/164-02.0.
The Sacramento-based Golden West Athletics club won the W40-49 4x100
Meter Relay in 58.72 seconds and the M60-69 4x800 Meter Relay in 11
minutes, 22.59 seconds.
More than 1,100 of the nation's finest masters athletes (ages 30 to
95-plus) were in Orono competing in the national championships. Masters
athletes now prepare for the World Masters Athletics Championships,
September 4-15 in Riccione, Italy.
