Course Construction Complete, Let The Racing Begin!
This Saturday, August 18th, Wolf Ridge Ski Resort (located in Mars Hill) will host the inagrual one-day North Carolina State Downhill Mountain Biking Championships. Racers from across the entire Southeast will compete on a competely new course that descends nearly 800 vertical feet in just over 1 mile. Racers will cover the distance in 3-4 minutes according to course designer, Ryan Taylor.
State Champion title recognition will be awarded to the top competitors in a variety of male/female and kids categories. All categories will have either cash or product prizes for the top five racers, with the top honors going to the Pro Men's and Pro Women's winners. In total, $2,500 in cash and prizes will fuel competitors' racing spirit.
Events will begin Friday, August 17th, with downhill practice from 12-6PM. Saturday downhill practice is available from 8:30-9:45AM, followed by a riders meeting at the start area. Racers will compete one at time in a time-trial format at 10AM.
In addition to the downhill event, dual slalom racing will be held Saturday afternoon. The day's events will culminate with a BBQ ribs dinner and awards ceremony.

Onsite registration will also be available Friday and Saturday. All downhill entry fees are $50; all dual slalom entry fees are $35 and kids 11 and under race for free! All entry fees include shuttle service and the Saturday afternoon dinner.
