LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (August 24, 2007) – TEAMChallenge GmbH today announced that award-winning local event management and marketing company, EveNZ, are the new license holders for Challenge Wanaka.
EveNZ, who are well-known within the Southern Lakes region for their work on several high profile sporting and community events, will work in conjunction with key race officials who were instrumental to the success of the inaugural event earlier this year.
TEAMChallenge director, Felix Walchshöfer, said he was delighted a local Wanaka organisation had taken over responsibility for the race.
“TEAMChallenge places a huge importance on community involvement in its events. We are confident that following the success of the 2007 event and under EveNZ’s management, Challenge Wanaka will grow into an event the town will be proud of and take ownership of, just as it has in Germany for Challenge Roth,” he said.
“The huge passion, drive and expertise of TEAMChallenge in Germany, combined with our own commitment and experience will result in the continuation of a very significant event for Wanaka,” she said. “We will work closely with Felix and many people from the 2007 Challenge Wanaka team, as well as utilising the valuable local resources available.”
EveNZ was joint winner in the Special Events category of the 2006 PRINZ Awards for its work on the New Zealand Gliding Grand Prix. Other events, past and present, in its portfolio include the New Zealand Free Ski Open, Burton New Zealand Open, Festival of Colour, Wanakafest and Race to the Sky.
Challenge Wanaka will take place on January 19, 2008 and is part of the global TEAMChallenge series that includes events in Germany, France and Spain. For further information, visit www.challenge-wanaka.com.
