GREEN BAY, Wis. - The 2007 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon generated $45,000 in proceeds for its charitable partners. The America Red Cross Lakeland Chapter, Salvation Army of Brown County and Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity were this year's recipients.
"The three charities played a vital role in ensuring the success of our event," said Sean Ryan, Cellcom Green Bay Marathon race director. "As part of their involvement, they tapped into their wealth of volunteers."
"We are delighted with our partnership with the Cellcom Marathon and this tremendous donation," said Major Ruth Fay of The Salvation Army of Brown County. "These funds will help all of our programs - emergency services, senior programs, youth programs, our ministries and much more."
Over the past eight years, the race has generated approximately $200,000 in proceeds for local charities. The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon seeks to create community spirit through a world class marathon for people of all athletic abilities. The ninth edition is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2008.
