Multisport: Richmond Park To Host The World’s Largest Duathlon  

This Sunday, 9th September, sees the return of the London Duathlon, the World’s Largest Duathlon. Once again it will again be hosted in the picturesque Richmond Park for all the keen dual discipline participants who had such a great time last year as well as hundreds of newcomers. Throughout the day nearly 10,000 thousand spectators are expected to line the closed roads of Richmond Park, cheering on competitors, the majority from London, as the competitors cycle and run throughout the day in both relays and a variety of distances offered for individual athletes. This is a truly remarkable sight as this is the only time in the entire year that the roads are closed in the park. The distances competitors can choose from range from a ‘Fun’ distance for beginners: 5km run; 10km cycle; 5km run, to a ‘Challenge’ distance for the more confident athletes: 9km run; 20km cycle; 5km run. Completely free to watch to all those interested, there will be competitors setting off from 8:45am to 2.00pm, guaranteeing a fantastic atmosphere at this great spectator event. Refreshments, event merchandise and official retailers will all be on site to cater for your needs, there will even be masseurs available “Al Fresco!” On top of this the Active Kids Zone will be up and running once again, offering the kids distance Duathlon, face painting and a day of fun!!
