Adventure Racing: Frontier Adventure Challenge Land O’Lakes Region Set For Saturday, Sept 29, 2007

Adventure Racing returns to the Land O’Lakes Region! After hosting one of their most successful events of the last two years in Bon Echo in 2005, the Frontier Adventure Challenge is returning for the Fall Classic and Championship on Sept 29, 2007.

Teams of three and solo racers will compete for prizing and glory over 75 km of biking, hiking, and paddling through an unmarked wilderness racecourse, experiencing the stunning fall colors and fantastic terrain around Bon Echo Park. Teams of three can be all-male, all-female, or coed.

"If the Fall Classic Race is anything like the last one here, participants will experience perfect weather in the unbeatable setting of Bon Echo,” said former County Reeve and adventure racer Ken Hook. “The varied terrain coupled with a challenging course will make this event something racers will reminisce about for years."

Centrally located less than 3 hours drive from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Kingston, the event will feature teams competing for the title of Canadian AR Champions. But the course is built with an optional advanced section, making it equally as appealing for teams of all skill levels, including first timers.

“These shorter, one-day adventure races seem to be the future of the sport, and this event has become the classic season-ending event,” said Geoff Langford, president of Frontier Adventure Racing (Frontier). “This is one of our favorite locations. Teams will love the rugged interesting terrain, the incredible fall colors, and the welcoming spirit of the community.”

Some of eastern Canada’s best teams are already registered and are ready to give any and all other adventure racers a run for their money, including Teams Tree Huggers, Salomon/Suunto, Adrenaline Rush, Salomon Bobkittens, Beowulf, and Archipela. The winning teams in each of the three categories will win FREE racing for all of 2008.

Frontier Adventure Racing is also looking for local volunteers to assist in the management of this event. Volunteers are critical to the success of the event, and it’s a great way to discover the sport, and some new areas in your neighborhood! All volunteers receive a race staff shirt, a swag bag, dinner and a license to party Sat pm!
