NEW YORK - Runner's World, the world's leading source of running information, has partnered with MileSplit, a national network of running websites dedicated to covering the sport of high school running. Together, they will offer high school athletes a website aimed solely at the nation's nearly 1.5 million high school track-and-field and cross-country athletes. The Web channel will highlight every aspect of the sport of running with feature-length stories, interviews, videos and podcasts.
Offering advice and tips, daily cross country and track news for and about high school runners, as well as up-to-the-minute race results from events throughout the nation, the Runner's World-MileSplit High School Runner partnership promises to revolutionize the way high school athletes and their coaches approach the sport.
"Runner's World has been dedicated to high school athletes for years," said Andrew Hersam, vice president and publishing director of Runner's World. "But in partnering with MileSplit we are taking our commitment to the next level - the new Web channel will be a one-stop, must-visit for anyone interested in high school running. With everything from advice on nutrition and the best running shoes to near-real-time race results, High School Runner is now the information center for what was, until now, the diffuse, decentralized network of high school coaches and athletes across the country."
Jason Byrne, a former high school runner who recognized the need for a centralized information source for the nation's high school athletes, founded MileSplit in 2000. MileSplit provides high school running news, race results, and personal histories of high school athletes. In conjunction with its overview of national news and trends, MileSplit has an unparalleled network of local web editors who are able to identify the most important stories and results in any given region. In addition, regional and national editors have compiled an extensive database of track-and-field and cross country archives, allowing high school runners to place their own achievements in the larger context of running history.
"With Runner's World, we believe we have found a partner to help us achieve our dream of not only growing the network, but of making it into a sustainable resource for our sport," said Jason Byrne, Founder, MileSplit.
By partnering with MileSplit, Runner's World increases its comprehensive high school competitive running coverage through MileSplit's loyal following of student athletes, coaches, journalists and post-graduate athletes who look to the site for reliable and timely content.
