Triathlon: Active Athlete Media offering free text message updates at Ford Ironman Florida

Active Athlete Media is going to be offering free text message updates for up to three racers at Ford Ironman Florida on NOvember 3rd and the 703. championships in Clearwater, FL on November 10th. Active Athlete is working with Ironman and AT&T to provide this, and successfully rolled it out at Kona this year. Basically anyone can track an athlete via any mobile device (cell phone, PDA) when away from the computer.

The Ironman Mobile Experience presented by AT&T will be providing fans with free, “on-the-go” race updates to their mobile phones and portable web viewing devices for the Ford Ironman Florida on November 3rd and at the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 on November 10th.

Fans can register online at www.IronmanWireless.com to receive text message (SMS) updates of participant status at key checkpoints for up to three racers at each Ironman event. The Mobile Experience will also include a custom built website (WAP) optimized for viewing on mobile phones, PDAs and other devices, which will include expanded race coverage for the two events.
