Early Bird Discount for Premier Road Racing and Distance Running Event Ends December 14th
SAN DIEGO, CA – December 6, 2007 – Leaders and innovators in the road racing and long distance industry will gather on February 10 for the start of Running USA 2008: The National Conference for the Running Industry. Powered by Running USA, The Active Network, Inc., and Gen-A Media & Marketing, this year’s conference will feature a “pre-conference” with three bonus sessions, bringing the total number of educational seminars, panels and breakout sessions to more than 25 and growing.
Targeted at major road race, media and athletic industry personnel, Running USA 2008 will deliver a strong line-up of industry CEOs and innovators in event management, sponsorship, retail and marketing speaking on a wide range of subjects important to the running industry. Topics include youth programs, community involvement, medical emergencies at an event, runner recruitment, hiring and keeping the right staff and more.
The pre-conference sessions will deal with the critical issues of hydration and protecting runners from the dangers of heat, and training for children at different stages of development. Pre-conference speakers and topics include:
Training & Best Practices for Youth, Ages 6-12
–Mike Dove and Susan Love - Just Run program in Northern California
–Thom Hunt - world record in 880 yards at age 7 and one-time high school indoor mile record holder
–Paul Greer - former elementary school teacher with master’s degree in PE and 23 years of coaching all age groups and abilities
Training & Best Practices for Youth, Ages 13-18
–Cathy Braund - director of M3 training for at-risk Chicago high school students
–Dr. Jennifer Sluder – conducted study of the effects of Students Run LA training on females
–Len Goldman - former director of Students Run Oakland and middle school cross country coach
–Paul Greer - competitive high school runner; sub- 4 min. miler and San Diego State 1500m record holder
–Thom Hunt - high school and college coach; 2006 and 2007 Pacific Coast Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year
