Boston Athletic Association (BAA) executive director, Guy Morse, is recovering from injuries to both legs sustained in a fall on February 1. The BAA founded and organizes the Boston Marathon.
According to BAA communications chief Jack Fleming, Morse required bilateral quadriceps surgery to repair ruptured tendons in both legs. Morse is also battling prostate cancer, and has decided to continue his cancer treatments despite these new injuries.
"His recovery will take several weeks, and he has elected to maintain an aggressive treatment program for prostate cancer while he rehabilitates from the surgery," Fleming said in a prepared statement.
Morse, 57, lives on Cape Cod in Centerville, Mass. He has worked at the BAA for 21 years. He expects a full recovery eventually, and plans to continue his work and responsibilities for the BAA during this period.
