Hosting three all-women events in 2008 - SheROX Philadelphia, SheROX Charlotte and SheROX Tempe, AZ
February 12, 2008 (Philadelphia, PA) - Organizers of the SheROX Philadelphia
Triathlon today announced the formation of the SheROX Triathlon Series
marking the national expansion of the popular women's sprint triathlon. The
new SheROX Series will host three events in the U.S. in 2008 -- SheROX Tempe
on May 10, SheROX Philadelphia on August 3 and SheROX Charlotte on September
14.
Produced by the organizers of the popular Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon,
the SheROX Triathlon Series is designed to ensure that every participant
will feel a sense of personal satisfaction, accomplishment and empowerment
about their experience. Each race in the SheROX Series is sanctioned by USA
Triathlon and registration is now open at SheROXtri.com.
"After our wildly successful debut last year in Philadelphia, it became
clear that there was a growing demand for a women's triathlon series focused
on the female athlete," said Barb McKeever, Race Director, SheROX Triathlon
Series. "Charlotte and Tempe each have a booming population of female
triathletes and we look forward to bringing a high-quality, well-organized
and fun 'SheROX Experience' to these cities this year. We're also expecting
big growth in our second year in Philadelphia, highlighted by the addition
of a $5,000 prize purse for top age group athletes and pros."
The women's market is the fastest growing segment in the sport of triathlon.
According to USA Triathlon, USAT female membership has increased from 11
percent in the early 90s, to 29 percent today.
The signature element of each SheROX event is its focus on cultivating a
passion in women for the multi-sport lifestyle by offering complimentary
training programs and the exclusive SheROX Mentor Program.
"The SheROX Mentor Program is what really sets us apart from other women
triathlon series. The goal is to ensure that participants have a positive
event experience from the time they start training until they cross the
finish line on race day," added McKeever. "Our mentors help introduce women
to the multi-sport lifestyle and create a network of female triathletes who

The complimentary SheROX Mentor Program pairs participants with an
experienced and enthusiastic female triathlete who is passionate about the
sport. Mentors provide information and support to help women feel
comfortable about what to expect during training and on race day. Mentors
are available via e-mail and proactively send regular tips and suggestions
to address individual needs and concerns.
The SheROX Series has also partnered with Active.com to provide free
training plans for every woman who registers for the race. Using the
Active.com Active Trainer program, athletes of all skill levels receive
access to professional training through this web-based tool.
