Comprehensive site, partnering with USA Triathlon, offers global daily news and information for triathletes worldwide
BOULDER, Colo. (February 15, 2008) -- Daily Triathlon, a web-only publication designed to provide the rapidly expanding triathlon community with daily news, information and conversation, officially announced its launch on Friday, Feb. 15.
The new website will partner with USA Triathlon on content sharing. Daily Triathlon will feature top age- group rankings on its home page, with links back to USAT's popular national rankings database, and will provide USAT's website with news and information specific to its 100,000 members.
The site - www.dailytriathlon .com - is privately funded, and aims to satisfy triathletes' appetites for a steady diet of triathlon-related stories, photos, and videos in addition to a social networking platform and forums to enable conversation between athletes who share a common passion for the sport and lifestyle.
"Daily Triathlon allows its viewers to see what's going on internationally in the world of triathlon every single day," says the site's founder, Barry Siff. "It is a great 'one-stop shop' for fueling triathletes' passion for their sport." Siff, who lives in Boulder, Colo., began racing in triathlons in 1986, and is owner and race director for 5430 Sports, a Boulder-based sports event management company.
Daily Triathlon sets itself apart from other triathlon- related websites in several ways by:
· Providing daily updates, which means refreshing the stories it features 24/7
· Delivering the most compelling and interesting triathlon stories pulled from a multitude of sources selected by the site's curator
· Posting videos and photos
· Covering triathlon worldwide
· Targeting a broad range of athletes, from professionals to age-groupers, and from short distance racers to Ironman participants
· Delivering Daily Triathlon's Daily Media Watch, featuring the day's top stories, via e-mail and RSS, every day to registered users
· A section on race reports generated by triathletes who describe the triathlon experience from a very personal perspective
"In the months of site development, I was amazed at the daily news items across the world in our sport," says the site's curator, Adam Campbell. "It has been exciting to select the most compelling and informative stories for our readers each day. In addition, with our anticipated traffic, discussion groups and other community aspects will be very popular." Campbell, a renowned athlete in Canada, previously served as Team Manager for Canada's National Triathlon Team.
