OTTAWA Athletics Canada named today the 2008 World Indoor Athletics Championships team. The Championships take place in Valencia, Spain March 7 to 9.
National team head coach Les Gramantik comments on the quality of the team heading to Spain, The first major competition of the 2008 athletics season is the World Indoor Championships. Athletics Canada has selected a small but very competitive group of athletes who included the World Indoors as part of their Olympic preparation. Gramantik adds, The meet is a highly contested international affair made for TV. I am looking forward to see our athletes compete well, and gain valuable experience which will help them as they strive for Beijing.
