Irish Olympian Marie Davenport and husband Dan became parents for the first time last night when Marie gave birth to Ciara Roisin Davenport.

"Marie and I are doing great," wrote Dan Davenport in an e-mail message to Race Results Weekly. "We had a baby girl, Ciara Roisin Davenport, last night just after 6:00 p.m. Ciara was 6 lbs. 10 oz., and was 20 inches long. Mom and Baby are doing great."

Davenport, 33, who ran in the NCAA for Providence College as Marie McMahon, lives in the U.S. state of Connecticut. She has personal best times of 15:09.07 for 5000m, 31:28.78 for 10,000m and 1:10:57 for the half-marathon. In the 2004 Athens Olympics, she finished 14th in the 10,000m.
