(Duluth, Minn.) Online registration for the 2008 William A. Irvin 5K officially opens next week. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. (CDT) on Wednesday, March 19, runners hoping to secure one of the event’s 1,200 spots can register at www.GrandmasMarathon.com.
“This race typically fills rather quickly and with this year’s transition to online registration we expect the 2008 field to reach its capacity faster than ever,” says Scott Keenan, executive director of Grandma’s Marathon. The $25 entry fee includes an official event T-shirt and commemorative pin.
The 3.1-mile run begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20, near the permanently docked William A. Irvin ore boat on Duluth’s waterfront and is the first of three major running events during Grandma's Marathon weekend. Less than 400 spots remain for the 32nd annual Grandma’s Marathon on Saturday, June 21, while registration for the 18th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is closed.
In all, more than 17,000 runners and 50,000 race fans from around the world will participate in the 32nd annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is presented by Target, Toyota and Wells Fargo Bank Duluth. For more information, visit www.GrandmasMarathon.com or call (218) 727-0947.
