With 35,000 participants the Dam tot Damloop is the attractive highlight of the road running season in The Netherlands, that stands surety for some fixed ingredients, that grow the event every year into a success. Also this year the participants in the 10 Miles start from the city centre of Amsterdam close to the Central Station, after which they will be encouraged after a passage trough the IJ-tunnel by an exuberant crowd and over a thirty of whipping up bands along the course. The climax will be reached in the suburb of Zaandam, where 150,000 spectators will support the athletes to the finish. Besides the many fun runners, also some top athletes will be present. Last year the world champion half marathon Zersenay Tedesse from Eritrea won the race and one year earlier Lornah Kiplagat broke the world record for women.
