Athletics: Track Hogs Host Home Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas track and field returns home to the friendly confines of John McDonnell Field this weekend. The first of three home meets, the Razorbacks are looking to add more regional-qualifying marks to their growing list.

In Fayetteville, events will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday with the decathlon and the heptathlon will follow at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, running prelims will being at 10 a.m., running finals will start at 3:30 p.m. and field events will begin at 8 a.m. Live results will be available at Hogwired.com. A daily recap will be posted on Ladybacks.com. Admission for the event is free for all fans.

Cox Sports Television will air a tape-delayed broadcast of the John McDonnell Invitational. The two-hour show will air Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m.

Also competing in Fayetteville will be Air Force, Brown, Harding, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Missouri, Missouri Southern, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Texas Tech, Tulsa and UALR.

After two weekends of competition, the Razorbacks have secured nine regional-qualifying marks and one NCAA automatic-qualifying mark (James Strang, 10,000M). Many Razorbacks will compete in their primary events this weekend in hopes to earn or better their regional-qualifying marks. Key events for the Hogs will be the 100 meters, 5,000 meters, 4x100-meters, the long and triple jumps and the middle distances (800 meters, 1,500 meters).

The newly renovated John McDonnell Field will play home to the Track Hogs for three meets this season. The annual John McDonnell Invitational is slated for April 18-19 and the Arkansas Twilight will take place May 2. UA will host the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships May 30-31.
