FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ distance runners will compete at Mt. SAC Relays while the rest of the roster will stay at home for the John McDonnell Invitational.
In Fayetteville, events will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday with the decathlon and the heptathlon will follow at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, running prelims will being at 10 a.m., running finals will start at 3:30 p.m. and field events will begin at 8 a.m. Live results will be available at Hogwired.com. A daily recap will be posted on www.Ladybacks.co. Admission for the event is free for all fans.
Cox Sports Television will air a tape-delayed broadcast of the John McDonnell Invitational. The two-hour show will air Sunday, April 27, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The Lady’Backs are ranked No. 25 in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Poll. Arkansas is one of six SEC schools ranked in the top 25. LSU leads the way at No. 1, Arizona State is at No. 2 and Texas A&M rounds out the top three.
Denise Bargiachi, Dacia Barr, Megan Jackson, Christine Kalmer, Jillian Rosen and Catherine White will compete in the Mt. SAC distance carnival Thursday and Friday nights while the sprinters, jumpers and throwers will compete at the John McDonnell Invitational on Saturday.
The newly renovated John McDonnell Field will play home to the Lady’Backs for three meets this season. The annual John McDonnell Invitational is slated for April 18-19 and the Arkansas Twilight will take place May 2. UA will host the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships May 30-31.
