(St. Paul, MN – 4/23/08) Best of the US Management and Larry and Michelle Redrow of CGI Racing is pleased to announce that the 2nd annual Black Bear SprintTriathlon, which will be contested on Sunday, June 1, will host the 2008 “Best of the US’ Pennsylvania State Qualifier. The fastest resident amateur male and female finisher will be invited to represent the Keystone State at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October 26 at the Soma Quarterman / Best of the US National Championship in Tempe, Arizona
The Black Bear Sprint Triathlon (750m swim – 18 mile bike – 3.4 mile run) will be staged in the Pocono Mountains in beautiful Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, Pennsylvania as part of Black Bear Triathlon Weekend, which will also feature a half ironman. The venue is a little more than an hour’s drive from Philadelphia.
Some of the finest amateur triathletes in America reside in Pennsylvania. Among those we hope to see at Black Bear Sprint on June 1 are John Brockenbrough, Kyle Cashin, Rick Fesler, two-time BOUS representative Chris Ganter, Scott Gray, Lauren Hensler, Megan Knepper, Sarah Lanphier, three-time BOUS representative Heather Leiggi (6th at the 2007 Championship, 9th in 2006, 11th in 2005), Tracy McGurk, Jeff Miller, Kelly Ochreiter, Sean Robbins, Sharon Schmidt-Mongrain, Beth Schutt, Lisa Shaffer, Todd Shatynski, Nancy Smit, Sally Speck, Adam Webber and Lindsay Zemba. Any male/female combination of these athletes will insure that Pennsylvania has a formidable presence at the Championship.
